On “late bloomer, not a loser” by Dave McClure

I just read the “Late bloomer, not a loser” post by McClure and it seems to be one of those good, honest, reflective posts on one’s life. Lots of people need to find time to find their way, but I guess the lesson here was to always keep your eyes open and take a chance now and then. I’m a big believer that there are two key ingredients to success:

  1. Being at the right place at the right time. Call it serendipity. Call it luck. Whatever. But opportunities will be there for a tiny window and, in the parlance of our time, “do not miss your chance to blow.”
  2. Being ready. Have the knowledge, the money, the connections, the skills, the drive—or some combination of them all. Spend all of your time up to Point #1 getting those things in place so you can execute on Point #1. When things line up: push as hard as you can.
