I just read the “Late bloomer, not a loser” post by McClure and it seems to be one of those good, honest, reflective posts on one’s life. Lots of people need to find time to find their way, but I guess the lesson here was to always keep your eyes open and take a chance now and then. I’m a big believer that there are two key ingredients to success:
- Being at the right place at the right time. Call it serendipity. Call it luck. Whatever. But opportunities will be there for a tiny window and, in the parlance of our time, “do not miss your chance to blow.”
- Being ready. Have the knowledge, the money, the connections, the skills, the drive—or some combination of them all. Spend all of your time up to Point #1 getting those things in place so you can execute on Point #1. When things line up: push as hard as you can.
